What is it?
Ringworm is a common fungal infection of the skin. Despite the name, it’s not caused by a worm! It’s caused by fungi called dermatophytes.
Symptoms 🔍
- Red, itchy, circular rash with raised edges 🔴⭕
- The center of the rash may clear up, making it look like a ring
- Can appear on skin, scalp, feet (athlete’s foot), or nails
How do you get it?
- Direct skin-to-skin contact with an infected person or animal 🐕🐈
- Touching contaminated objects like towels, clothes, or surfaces 🧴🧺
- Warm, moist environments help fungi grow 🌡️💧

- Antifungal creams or ointments applied to the skin
- Oral antifungal medicine for severe or scalp infections
- Keep the affected area clean and dry 🧼
