What is it?
Ringworm is a common fungal infection of the skin. Despite the name, it’s not caused by a worm! It’s caused by fungi called dermatophytes.


Symptoms 🔍

  • Red, itchy, circular rash with raised edges 🔴⭕
  • The center of the rash may clear up, making it look like a ring
  • Can appear on skin, scalp, feet (athlete’s foot), or nails

How do you get it?

  • Direct skin-to-skin contact with an infected person or animal 🐕🐈
  • Touching contaminated objects like towels, clothes, or surfaces 🧴🧺
  • Warm, moist environments help fungi grow 🌡️💧

Treatment 💊

  • Antifungal creams or ointments applied to the skin
  • Oral antifungal medicine for severe or scalp infections
  • Keep the affected area clean and dry 🧼

Prevention Tips 🚫

  • Don’t share personal items like towels, hairbrushes, or clothes
  • Wear sandals in public showers or locker rooms 🚿
  • Keep skin clean and dry
  • Treat pets if they are infected
