🤕 Nasal Fracture

A nasal fracture is a break or crack in the bones of the nose, usually caused by trauma or injury.

🧬 Causes:

  • Sports injuries
  • Falls or accidents
  • Physical assaults
  • Car accidents

🩺 Symptoms:

  • Pain and tenderness around the nose
  • Swelling and bruising (around the nose and under eyes)

💊 Treatment:

  • Ice packs to reduce swelling
  • Pain relief with medications like acetaminophen or ibuprofen
  • Avoid blowing the nose to prevent bleeding
  • In some cases, closed reduction (realigning the bones without surgery) within 1-2 weeks after injury
  • Surgery (open reduction) for severe or complicated fractures
  • Follow-up to check healing and function

⚠️ Complications:

  • Nasal deformity
  • Persistent nasal obstruction
  • Septal hematoma (blood collection inside nasal septum)
