Diabetic Foot refers to a range of foot problems that people with diabetes may develop, often due to nerve damage (neuropathy) and poor blood circulation. These issues can lead to infections, ulcers, and in severe cases, amputation.

  • Peripheral neuropathy: loss of sensation in feet, so injuries may go unnoticed
  • Peripheral artery disease (PAD): poor blood flow delays healing
  • High blood sugar levels that impair immune function and healing
  • Foot deformities (due to nerve damage or muscle imbalance)
  • Wearing improper shoes or poor foot care

  • Foot ulcers: open sores that may become infected
  • Infections: can spread to skin, muscle, and bone
  • Calluses and corns: may lead to ulcers if untreated
  • Gangrene: tissue death from severe infection or poor blood flow
  • Charcot foot: weakening of bones causing deformities
